Our Story

All about DeaconChef...

William Howard Scipio, Jr. born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland in a small community called Sandtown-Winchester. He was raised by his grandmother, who loved cooking for the family and community. As a little boy, William watched and fell in love with cooking. William went through his childhood loving to cook and watch how others cooked in the kitchen.

In 1998, William went to a boarding school in St. George, VA called The Blue Ridge School where he learned the beginning skills of culinary from Chef Ed. While at Blue Ridge, William learned how to cut, dice, and do small cooking on the flat-top grill. As he journeyed through high school and college, William was known to make some delicious meals for his family and friends. 

In 2012, William enrolled at Stratford University located in Baltimore, MD where he earned his AA in Culinary Arts and BA in Culinary Management. After graduating from Stratford, William held many culinary positions such as; chef, line cook, prep cooks, sous chef, kitchen manager, store manager, and currently a Culinary Teacher for high schoolers with disabilities. These positions gave William the tools needed to be who he is today as a awesome chef and caterer. 

In 2014, DeaconChef Catering was born and has been a success for every client he worked with and for. 

DeaconChef Catering has had the privileges cooking for local clients and out of state opportunities. No event or function is too big for DeaconChef.
